The 2011 Birthday Honours List has been published, recognising outstanding achievement and service across the UK.

We are very pleased to announce and congratulate Angela Evans; Respiratory Physiotherapist who works for Stoke on Trent Community Health Services on receiving an MBE.

The MBE is awarded for achievement or service in and to the community of a responsible kind which is outstanding in its field or a 'hands-on' service which stands out as an example to others.

Angela has worked in the NHS for over 36 years helping people battling chest illnesses.  Through groundbreaking testing several years ago, she also discovered many patients nationally were being misdiagnosed with a condition called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and were unnecessarily taking drugs.

Angela said, “I am so thrilled and proud to have been recognised for my work and given an MBE, it truly is an honour”.

Mandy Donald, Managing Director of Stoke on Trent Community Health Services said: “Angela is extremely well known within the respiratory field and is very highly regarded by her colleagues and the patients she works with.  I would like to say a huge congratulations to her on behalf of myself, our organisation and her peers. Her MBE is truly deserved.”
