Wheelchair Services (Rehabilitation)

The Wheelchair Service provides specialist mobility and postural equipment to meet individual needs. 

The Wheelchair Team comprises a doctor, occupational therapists and technicians, and rehabilitation engineers. The team provides expert and specialised mobility and postural control equipment and advice to clients,  over the age of 30 months registered with a GP in Stoke on Trent.

Equipment available includes manual or powered wheelchair, spcialised seating systems or pressure relieving cushions.  Referrals are accepted from local GPs, district nurses and other therapy staff. 

The Wheelchair service also liaises with local schools to ensure that patients have adequate support and are safe within the school environment.

For existing clients, there is an emergency out of hours repair service provided by our Approved Repairer available Monday to Friday 7.00pm to 10.30pm with Bank Holidays and weekends available from 8.30am to 10.30pm.

Clients who have been seen by the Wheelchair team within the previous 2 years have the option to self refer, either in writing or by contacting the team by telephone.

This service is based at Haywood Hospital and operates Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm and Fridays 8.30am to 4.15pm (excluding Bank Holidays).

Home visits are available for clients assessed as unable to travel to Haywood Hosptial.
