Amputee Rehabilitation Service
The Amputee Rehabilitation Service provides artificial limbs to patients who have lost a limb.
The Amputee Rehabilitation team provide a full specialist rehabilitation programme for patients that have undergone amputation surgery or have suffered congenital limb loss and require an artificial limb. The service is provided for patients mainly living in Stoke on Trent, North Staffordshire, South Staffordshire, South East Staffordshire and Shropshire.
The team consists of a doctor, prosthetists, rehabilitation engineer, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, rehabilitation support worker and patient counsellor/nurse.
The service is based within the Specialised Mobility Centre at the Haywood Hospital. The team also run clinics at the Queens Hospital in Burton on Trent, Shrewsbury Royal Hospital and Stafford District General Hospital.
The Amputee Rehabilitation Service accepts referrals from consultants, district nurses, therapy staff and GPs. Patients can also self refer to the service.
