We are a friendly and enthusiastic team consisting of a project leader, breastfeeding co-ordinators, breastfeeding facilitators and administrators.
Breastfeeding co-ordinators are health care professionals with specialist training in breastfeeding who;
- Support families where breastfeeding may be challenging.
- Facilitate training for staff and volunteers.
- Audit the standards in the Trust to comply with the UK Baby Friendly Initiative.
- Assist the project lead with development of breastfeeding guidance and policy.
Breastfeeding facilitators are trained staff who have all breastfed their own children. They support families in the hospital and community setting;
- To know that their baby is getting enough milk
- So that feeding is a comfortable experience for mum and baby.
- They are able to identify where more help is needed.
- They facilitate breastfeeding cafes all around the city.
