Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapy service provides assessment and treatment for people with any type of physical disability within the community or residential settings.
The Occupational Therapy team help people regain skills they may have lost following an illness or disability. For example helping them to regain skills in washing and dressing, making and eating meals, getting on or off a bed/ toilet. They also help with relaxation, anxiety and fatigue management as well as helping people to return to work and pursue their leisure activities. Specialist equipment will also be provided where appropriate. Services are provided in the patient’s own home, work place, residential or nursing home.
The Occupational Therapy team are also part of the intermediate care team who support Hilltop Manor and St Michaels House in Chell for patients who have been discharged from hospital. Support is also provided to Dobson Ward which is an intermediate care ward at the Haywood Hospital.
Referrals to OccupationalTherapy can be made via GPs, Health Care Professionals and Social Services. Self referral or a referral from a family member or carer will also be accepted.
The Occupational Therapy Service is split into teams covering specific areas of the City.
